Alpha Shift Problems

The Alpha drive (along with the older #1 drives) uses what is called a dog clutch to shift gears. This system depends on the engine torque going through it to stay engaged.
	As this is a metal to metal connection, some noise is inevitable when shifting. Proper idle speed is important.
Problems related to the drive and shift hardware include grinding when shifting in to gear, hard (or impossible) to shift out of gear, or engine dies when shifting.
