Alpha Shift Problems
| The Alpha drive (along with the older #1 drives) uses what
is called a dog clutch to shift gears. This system depends on the engine
torque going through it to stay engaged. |
|
|
As this is a metal to metal connection, some noise is
inevitable when shifting. Proper idle speed is important. |
| Problems related to the drive and shift hardware include
grinding when shifting in to gear, hard (or impossible) to shift out of
gear, or engine dies when
shifting. |
